ok, i gotta admit... this show's got me a little worried. but also... VERY EXCITED!!!

wanna know why? well, i'm nervous that maybe you aren't down with these acts yet & that you might not make it out to this ESSENTIAL SHOW!?!? on the other hand, i'm super stoked to share this stuff with all y'all... as i'm confident that you'll get on board just as soon as you have a chance to check out these two fantastic touring acts (who we're lucky enough to get on an off night from their current tour supporting RA RA RIOT). so yeah, please keep reading!

WALTER MEEGO - these dudes are THE BOMB!!! ever since i first heard "Through A Keyhole" a coupla years ago, i've been addicted to this band. catchy, inventive, (slightly) noisy, emotive, hooky & always fun!!! (you've might've heard their single "Forever" used in a recent Heineken ad? -or- maybe you saw that they we're on tour with THE PRESETS a few months ago?) imagine the best elements of that big room Blog House sound mixed with your favorite Indie Rock... and you'll be on the right track. definitely recommended for fans of Pop, DAFT PUNK, House, HOT CHIP, Electronica, AIR, Indie Rock, GARY NUMAN, THE BEATLES, JUNIOR BOYS, etc. anyway - I LOVE THIS BAND & i'm sure you will too if you give them a listen.

THE MORNING BENDERS - WOW! i had never heard of these dudes until i saw that they were on tour with the Meegos & Ra Ra Riot. boy am i glad i did. kick-butt, sunny Indie Pop that fans of THE SHINS, DR DOG, THE LITTLE ONES, BEACH BOYS, etc will go NUTS for. recently did a tour in support of THE KOOKS & have also played w/ MGMT, YEASAYER, YO LA TENGO, etc. if you like infectious, well-crafted Indie-Pop - you're gonna FREAK ON these guys.

seriously, what other band in the whole world has done this!?! honestly - this shit couldn't be more up my alley!!! conceptual as a muh!

anyway, here's what THE DEAD SCIENCE have done.... they've taken a bunch of tracks off their excellent new album Villianaire & they've laced them w/ beats & all kinds of new vocals (CRAIG WEDREN [Shudder To Think], KATRINA FORD [Celebration], ZAC PENNINGTON [Parenthetical Girls], CARLA BOZULICH [ex-Geraldine Fibbers, Ethyl Meatplow, etc], ETC)... (in other words) remixed them & they're offering the whole thing up for FREE!!!

and yknow... if that weren't enough, they're offering it up in 2 different formats; one w/ tons of scratching & drops & whatnot (typical mixtape stylee) & another without all the DJ zaniness BUT w/ RZA (WU TANG FOREVER b*tches!!!) samples & skits & whatnot. plus... Hi-Res Cover Art. JUST PLAIN RIDICULOUS.

and the thing is, you'd NEVER know that these dudes had this sh*t up their sleeve if you didn't know better. it's not like they play NÜ METAL or something, yknow? this isn't a Fred Durst thang. not like they can just take the beats from their album & slightly tweak them. i mean... they're an Avant-Pop band for god's sake! not the freaking POSTAL SERVICE, ya feel me? just kinda blown away at how much work they must've put into this on top of everything they must've did (sic) for the actual album!?!?

anyway... i haven't even made it all the way through these babies but i wanted to get this out to y'all as quick as possible so you can get with it now, so you can get pumped for their show next MONDAY night, OCTOBER 6th.

THE BLACK ANGELS = definitely some of the best Psych- / Stoner- / Sludge- / Garage- / Drone- Rock this writer's heard in years!!! - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for fans of their obvious influences (VELVET UNDERGROUND, 13TH FLOOR ELEVATORS, SPACEMEN 3, THE JESUS & MARY CHAIN, THE BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE, etc.) & their sonic contemporaries (BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB, SECRET MACHINES, BLACK MOUNTAIN, THE WARLOCKS, etc.) - have toured in support of some of my absolute faves... QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE & THE BLACK KEYS - reportedly have a full-blown "Fillmore"-esque light show that should certainly enhance their performance & your experience - from Austin, TX - on Light In The Attic
